Recruitment for this year's astronomical camp for high school students has started. The camp will be held on July 26 - August 8, 2021 at OSW ZHP "Nadwarciański Gród" in Załęcze Wielki. Price: PLN 1,500.

We invite you to the lecture "From Newton to Einstein", which will be hosted by Piotr Łubis, a member of our Club. The lecture is part of a series of Friday lectures, which are currently held on the first and third Friday of the month.

The lecture will be held on March 19 at 17:00. The link to the broadcast will appear on the Club Facebook profile. Lecture will be in polish.

Last Tuesday (February 9), Eliza Płotnikowa appeared on Radio Kampus in a broadcast on the influence of microgravity on the astronaut's body. You can listen to the conversation on AstroNET's Facebook profile.

Next Wednesday, February 17 at 11:00 am, Zofia Księżak will perform on the same radio and talk about recruiting and training astronauts. You can listen to the broadcast live on the radio website Radio Kampus .

Recruitment for this year's astronomy camp for primary school graduates has started. The camp will be held on 4-17 July 2021 at OSW ZHP "Nadwarciański Gród" in Załęcze Wielki. Price: PLN 1,500.

Participants of our camps and students of the second year of high school: Zofia Księżak, Eliza Płotnikowa and Aleksandra Walczybok implement the project "WAY2SPACE", aimed at showing as many people as possible that astronomy and astronautics are not so scary. The project is part of the "Released from Theory" competition.

Project description:
With the help of social media we would like to reach the largest audience possible, in an interesting and accessible way showing the various faces of astronomy and astronautics.

Our main goal is to introduce our peers to the various departments of astronomy. However, we do not want to limit our group of beneficiaries to such a small circle - on our website everyone curious about the (all) world around us is welcome.

Astronomy is close to us because it made us get to know each other - in 2019 we took part in the Almukantarat Club summer astronomy camp. It was there that we first realized how much we love this subject and decided to inspire more people to learn it.

We also believe that in the last few years, astronomy in schools has ceased to be as important as it used to be, and the surveys we have conducted show that young people really want to delve deeper into its topics. Our profile will allow them to do so in a simple and accessible way.

The "Friday Lectures" organized by the Almukantarat Astronomical Club are back in the new year. The topic of the next meeting, which will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 5:00 p.m., is How does the plane fly? - Drive .
Host: Kacper Łęcki
We will talk about the types of engines, their history, design and interesting solutions related to them. We will cover the basics of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics to understand how engines convert the energy of the bonds in fuel into the thrust needed to propel aircraft. In addition, we will discuss the key parameters that determine the efficiency of jet engines (and thus the profitability / sensibility of using them).

Our participants took 4 first places of LIX Polish Astronomy Olympiad! We are very proud of Zofia Kaczmarek, Mateusz Bronikowski, Michał Wójcik and Cyryl Waśkiewicz! Katarzyna Mikulska, Lidia Lappo, Dawid Borys and Jacek Gębala, who are also participants of our camps, are finalists of the Olympiad. Congratulations!

Almukantarat Astronomy Club will take part in the 19th Science Picnic of Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre, which will take place on May 9th at National Stadium in Warsaw. We will be present at stand E12, where we will show many astronomical instruments (modern and historical) as well as various interactive experiments. The entrance is free, so feel invited!

Spring seminar for 2013 and 2014 age-groups will take place on May 15th–18th in „Orle” Touristic Station, in Izera Mountains. The station is located in Izera Dark-Sky Park and it holds an astronomical laboratory, so if the weather allows, some lessons on astrophotography will be lead. Participation in Astronomical Day in Czech Jizerka will be another seminar's atraction. Traditionally, each participant is supposed to give a short talk. The topic of talks will be „Nice, warm and shiny or about stars”. Deadline for registration is April 30th, more information is available on the seminar's site.

Participants from 2012 age-group are invited to Spring Staff Workshops. The meeting will take place in Warsaw, between May 29th and June 1st. Its main goal is to prepare you to be good staff and participate in Club's activities, so it will be a little different from normal seminars. More information is available on workshops' site.

In the last week of February Winter Science Workshops in Szamotuły were organized. 28 high school students took part in the meeting. Each of them had a talk on choosen topic, connected with the Workshops' theme – „Astronautics”. In the schedule there were also staff' lectures, as well as less scientific activities – a tour around the local area, a trip to Poznań and a „miss of the universe” contest.

Dates of this year's summer camps are already known. Camp for junior high graduates will take place between July 19th and August 1st. High school students (2013 and 2014 age-groups) are invited to a meeting between 2nd and 15th of August. Both camps will take place in „Nadwarciański Gród” Center in Załęcze Wielkie near Wieluń. Information about recruitment will be available on this site.

On 9-12 May Spring Seminar took place in Chorzów. Meeting was organised in Silesian Planetarium for younger participants and the topic of talks was "Astronomical and astrophysical observations". Ahead of us is a Spring Seminar in Jelenia Góra for high school graduates, organised by Tomasz Dłubis. Topic of the meeting is "Techniques and development of research in astronomy". Dates of summer camps are already known! Camp for this year's junior high graduates will take place on August 10th-24th in "Nadwarciański Gród" Center in Załęcze Wielkie. Older participants (2011 and 2012 age-group) are invited to a camp in Rączki in "Biały Brzeg" Center between 27th of July and 9th of August. Recruitment will start soon.
